When you look across the pasture, Melody is one that will catch your eye. She's the perfect package of beauty and pedigree all rolled into one exquisite female. Her conformation is wonderfully proportioned--she is graceful and beautifully square, with strong straight legs and back. Melody is perfectly balanced and has a proper bite.
We truly love Melody's rich, brown fiber and are impressed with its fineness and architecture. Melody's second shear reflects that fineness by her histogram showing an average fiber diameter of 21.5. Very, very soft for an alpaca with darker color at her age.
Melody's sire is Mr. Roosevelt, a Medium Rose Gray male said to be one of the finest breeding gray males in the country. Mr. Roosevelt has sired numerous Champion offspring, and stands as the cornerstone of Crescent Moon Ranch's gray and black breeding program. On her dam's side stands Ppperuvian Royal Fawn, a legend in his own time as the only light fawn male exported from Don Julio Barreda's Accoyo herd.
We believe that Melody would be an outstanding breeding female for anyone looking to add color, fineness, correct conformation/bite, gray genetics and a power-packed pedigree to further their breeding goals. She will be bred in the Spring of 2010 and you may choose the male, although we would suggest Crescent Moon's Icon, as his extreme density will compliment Melody's already fine fleece. Her price includes this breeding, and we will guarantee a female cria if she gives birth to a male, but what you wanted was a female. Please see our Breeding Polity for more details.
Call or email the Alpaca Hacienda to arrange a visit to meet Crescent Moon's Melody. Let her begin or improve your breeding program for the price of a song!
